She walks into the room for follow up, except this is the first time we meet!
When asked if there is any concerns she may have, she mentions she wants a medical exemption from getting the Covid-19 vaccination.
For those who may be living under the rock, Pfizer received full FDA approval in August 2021 following which many healthcare companies, hospital, schools and city officials have mandated Covid-19 vaccination for its staff. This woman works on admin side in a large healthcare organisation.
So I ask her, what is her reason for requesting the medical exemption and here she goes:-
1. I already got two vaccines this year, HPV vaccine and before that Flu vaccine
2. I am now a herbalist
3. I am vegan
4. I am trying to cleanse my body
5. I want to do only natural stuff
6. I just had to take medications for herpes but don't want to take anything else
I refer her to the CDC website and she walks out of the room!
I wish I could have helped her more and honestly I wanted to.. only if she waited..
For the record, none of the covid-19 vaccination so far whether approved fully or under emergency authorisation, contain animal derived products. That is why, even people with allergy to egg can obtain it . Yes, some companies are legally required to test products on animal before they can be marketed and tested on humans and that is something PETA has been fighting against for a while. PETA and other activists that fight for animal rights all encourage people to get the covid-19 vaccination despite how vaccines are developed.
The only contraindication to getting vaccinated is if you are allergic to polyethylene glycol (an ingredient used in the vaccine), had SEVERE allergic reaction to first dose of the vaccination or if you are known to be allergic to any other ingredients of the vaccine. Even cancer patients and severely immunocompromised patients can get the vaccine safely. Something to consider!
