Winter

Winter in Minnesota sucks!
Especially if you have lived in a tropical climate for almost 18 years of your life.
This is how bad it can go
I remember my first winter here, I was playing outside in snow, taking pictures and having fun. Having witnessed it for three years, I can now say " I have had enough of you snow. Please go away".
Anyway, so I had to goto work today at 7 am and it was snowing heavily. Plus, today is the day I decided to take my 17" laptop with me, since we can not do any unofficial work (not even homework!) on work computers :(
Trust me people, it was a bad idea!

Moral of the story: Sometimes, smaller the better.

33 hours

This is exactly how I feel right now.
After being up for 33 hours straight followed by only 6 hours of sleep and another 15 hours of either volunteering at the local hospital or partying, I am finally sick!!!!

And why was I up for 33 hours?? Well because I wanted to show my supervisors at work that I am a workaholic so that they give me a good evaluation. Well, this was part of the reason. I worked from 11 pm to 7 am. I then attended my classes and worked on my research the entire day. I was supposed to work again 3pm to 7 pm only. I knew I can do it. All I had to do was get home asap after work and sleep. BUT the next dispatcher was late. And not like 5 or 10 minutes late, completely two and a half hours late.

REASON?? Well, she usually comes in at 2300 hours but that day we were both covering someone else's shift. I was covering the first fours hours and she was supposed to cover the remaining four. But she forgot and was sleeping . It happens. It could have happened with me too. But I WAS UP FOR 24HOURS NOW and I HAD TO SLEEP.

Anyway finally the next dispatcher came, after having called him tons of times and leaving innumerable voicemails, and I was off duty.

So, I went home and slept, right??
WRONG!

I went to my friend's place to catch up  on her love interest and to tell her stories about my Mr. Incompatible. And once we started talking...
And we talked and talked and talked...

...until 5 am when we both slept.

Woke up 6 hours later, went to the hospital where I volunteer at the emergency center, saw a mother crying over her dead baby, went to school to do research, went home, dressed up and went to the biggest dance event on campus (which was like my friend said, "Just a publicity stunt"), took a long walk before returning home and chatted for another 3 hours with my friend before finally going to bed.

Slept for 11 hours and that should have made me better but I guess that was just the starting of me falling sick :(
I feel like blaming God but I know I am at fault!!!!

Beginning

So what made me blog after years of procrastination?

My classes, my classmates, my new job and most importantly, my impending MCAT.
and ofcourse, one of my dearest friends... Girl on the move :)

I am a 20 year old third year undergraduate in biochemistry and biotechnology. I want to join a US medical school but being an international student, it is "close to impossible", in the words of one of my professors.

Ofcourse that did not throw me off balance but I do realize it is very very difficult to get into a med school, even for the citizens. I need to get perfect MCATs, an awesome resume and loads of clinical experience...something that I need to work on in the next few months. In case you are not aware of it MCAT aka Medical College Admission Test is a standardized test for prospective medical students in the United States.

My friends, my family, all complain that I have no time for them. All I can say is that this is the most important time period of my life and this blog is a way for me to vent my feelings when talking to somebody else will be just another tedious job (in terms of communication).

I am currently at work. I work at Campus Security as a dispatcher and it is 4.33 am. Yeah, I work at night. But it is not too bad once you get used to it, especially if you get lots of time to study... provided you do not loose focus!!!

I might sound like a nerd but anyone who knows me understands how this is just one of my many facets. Hopefully you will be able to discover many more...!!!
